WESTERN EXHIBITIONS

Western Exhibitions is a commercial gallery showing emerging and established artists who work in contemporary idioms. Gallery artists fall into two broad categories: eccentric, analytical, image-based painting and conceptually-based installation and performance practices. We privilege no one aesthetic; what our program values first and foremost are artists who approach their work with keen and passionate intelligence. Western Exhibitions shows work in all media and maintains a specific inventory of artist books and multiples, gathered together on our sister entity's website, WesternXeditions.

MICHAEL WOOLWORTH PUBLICATIONS

An American-born master printer and publisher based in Paris, Michael Woolworth established his atelier in 1985. He specializes in printing hand-pulled small, limited editions in lithography, woodcut, monotype, linocut, etching, and photogravure. The workshop is conceived as a kind of art laboratory for reinventing the printmaking process, using unconventional techniques and materials from beeswax and plaster to gold leaf, from wallpaper to rugs. His most recent project is an artist’s book with Jim Dine comprising 24 stone lithographs and a poem by the artist. Other recent editions include collaborations with Jean-Michel Othoniel, Bertrand Lavier, Frédérique Loutz, Barthélémy Toguo, Jaume Plensa, José Maria Sicilia, and Marc Desgrandchamps. Located at the Place de la Bastille in central Paris, the shop operates a gallery space for its prints and books.
